We celebrated Canada's 150th birthday by taking a musical journey across Canada. I made books for each student ages four through six with worksheets, maps, flags, and other information. As we travelled to each province and territory, we would add to our books and the students could take them home to share what they learned with their parents. We learned a song or two from every region. We included music from the First Nations, Inuit, and Métis people, as well as the Francophone music tradition. We finished up the unit with our Spring Celebration and shared all of our songs and learning with our parents!
